Surfactin is a potent cyclic lipopeptide biosurfactant consisting of four isomers (Surfactin A, B, C, and D). It mediates the flux of mono- and divalent cations, such as calcium, across lipid bilayer membranes. Surfactin acts as an antimicrobial adjuvant with antibacterial, antifungal, antimycoplasma, and hemolytic effects, and has antiviral activity against various enveloped viruses.
